Welcome to ANERGIS Anergis’ objective is to develop and market new immunotherapy products for novel safe and fast treatment of allergy ![]() |
Allergies: high unmet medical needs Allergy is the most prevalent and the fastest growing chronic condition in the industrialized world with over 300 million people affected. The allergic population has doubled in western countries over the past 20 years and 20 to 30% of the population of industrialized countries suffers from various forms of allergic diseases (asthma, rhinitis, urticaria, food allergies) impairing their quality of life and often leading to work disability. Today’s treatments are largely unsatisfactory and the market is dominated by symptomatic treatments which provide no cure to patients. SIT is the only treatment attacking the cause of allergy and able to cure a patient from a specific type of allergy. However, SIT remains today a long term personal commitment (3-5 years of treatment) with significant risks of serious allergic reactions (including anaphylactic shock) and no guarantee of treatment efficacy. In recent years, sublingual SIT (also called “SLIT”) has been developed to improve treatment convenience. SLIT remains largely unsatisfactory as it still requires almost daily administrations over 3-5 years. Anergis’ objective
is to develop and market new immunotherapy products for more allergic
patients than today, by providing novel safe and fast treatment. The technology of COPs allows the identification and development of uniquely profiled proprietary products intended for ultra-fast and safe immunotherapy, providing a markedly improved alternative to SIT treatment. With COPs products designed to present the full immunogenicity of the allergen but lacking the ability to bind allergen-specific IgEs, Anergis’ approach represents a unique opportunity to develop and market the first specific immunotherapy treatments for food allergies. Anergis intends to study several possible applications of COPs in the field of food allergies. Anergis’ innovative COP products are expected to profoundly modify the future medical management of allergic patients by significantly increasing the proportion of patients treated by SIT rather than non-specific treatments and by giving access to SIT to patients with yet untreated allergies, such as food allergies.
